I have a neat little orangy lamp on the side of my bed. Not very bright, but nice to look on. It would be useful to have the lamp on one level with the mattress to enjoy the light more. No need to shine on the underside of my bed. There is nothing to see.
Well you can always buy something. But thats not what I like to do.
What I like to do is to take something that is already there (or can be found easily) and make what I need out of it using only what I already have.
I like to call it some variety of permaculture, but I think thats happening only in my head.
What I found was a fruit box. One of the big ones. I think they keep apples in them? Prove me wrong.
Next I took from the scrap paper box an old carton (Babbadeckl) disassembled it and made a cap for the box. A bit of glue, some pegs and tape on the borders did the trick.
It fitted perfectly. A little pressure here a little pressure there …
And now for the pretty:
From an old painted room of mine there is still some dispersion paint left over. A lovely wine red and orangy … orange.
Red it is.
And because thats not pretty enough for some orange features.
Loosely inspired by Art Nouveau of course.
A good dose of hairspray to fix it and for some shiny.
(It’s funny I do posses hairspray, but it’s in my crafts box and I use it only as a fixative for paint)

More details:
I’m happy.
The lamp is happy too.
Now I can actually lie on the bed and read a book while light falls onto the writing on the book and not on the ground below.
What some proof?
I’ll show you proof!
Well, not me lying on the bed of course. Would be difficult to take the pictures and to write the article if I’m lying on the bed reading about the adventures of …
…
And because it’s Tuesday and it’s upcyled I will put up a link to ‚Upcycling tuesday‘ where you will find more upcycled things.
